MAGic 10.5 replaces ZoomText PDF Print E-mail
We are excited to inform you that MAGic, a screen magnification program from Freedom Scientific (the makers of JAWS, OpenBook, and WYNN) has been purchased, tested, and deployed and is available for the OSU-Stillwater campus and the branch campuses. Our office will begin slowly phasing out ZoomText, our current screen magnification program, over the next several years. Support will still be available through Student Disability Services, but we have elected not to renew our Software Maintenance Agreement, thereby ensuring that version 9.02 will be the final version of ZoomText deployed at OSU.There are several reasons we have elected to migrate to MAGic, including:
  1. Better compatibility with JAWS and other programs.
  2. Training is available every semester through the vendor, part of Freedom Scientific’s “Total Solution” package.
  3. Better network management and deployment options.
  4. More deployment options, including the ability to install the software on the personally owned computers of students, faculty, and staff.
We expect to maintain ZoomText on the Assistive Technology server for quite some time to give lab and other technology managers the opportunity to deploy, test, and learn more about MAGic. If there is a need to maintain ZoomText in a department for a longer period of time, or you have concerns about this migration, please contact us and we’ll be happy to work with you.

MAGic may be downloaded from the Software Distribution Center. Installation information and user guide documentation is available at this site in the "AT software on Campus" link.

Please let us know if you have any questions via the Contact Us page.
